Tsuchiya AE-86 Vs. JWRC SWIFT (Nice quality video)

tamakisanmafia shared a video:

This is a battle between the TRD hachi roku of Tsuchiya and a suzuki swift from the junior rally team.
Notes: ae86 ( 170 ps, 20 valve engine, 970 kg.)
Swift ( 218 ps, 1600 cc., 1030 kg.)
Torque: 19 kgm / 186 Nm on the swift (i think pretty much the same in both engines.)

Keiichi Tsuchiya teaching me to drift in Japan at drift school.
Then I come home and convert my awesome civic to rear wheel drive and drift to school, drift karate practice, drift to water polo, drift to soccer and drift to prom and to work.

Hey guys… the civic was great ok?, the engine in the civic is just better than the 4age, gotta love honda engines, and the car was well balance too. at the end the civic won, so the civic is a faster car. the end. But as a car lover i have to say that cars are not only about speed, is about dynamic sensations too.. and the 86 do that better. dont think it is a excuse to say that the 86 it is better than the civic. the civic was better in this case (by far).

Ive actually looked up the seeker and apparently it does have over 200 bhp, so thats still a 30 bhp difference maybe even more and it still weighs in at similar or less than either the swift of the ‘86.

Sequential box in a race will count for alot, easier to focus on your steering, much faster changes meaning much faster acceleration and it would have been VERY highly tuned, i don’t mean power wise, i mean power and torque curves.

sequential boxes made a big difference in the performance of a car especially on the straights.

the eg6 was using the conventional 5 speed gearbox for the record.

the person who put the vid was wrong on one point. there seeker did not used any form of itbs or 4 throttle system.

look carefully again at one part of the vid again showing the engine bay of the eg6.

and about the 1800cc thing, the dk replied back to the swift driver in japanese that he’s driving a WORKS car

it has sequential box and all the rally tuned set up against a street car which only had a slight weight and engine displacement advantage.

Just checked that vid, you do realise that EG6 is a 1800 on throttle bodies right? Thats probably putting out around 200ps around 30 more than this hachi and it probably ways the same if not less.

#8 MrORLY on 03.18.09 at 8:30 am

Ricers spoilt the EG6’s image tbh, gonna check the vid now.

#9 vtec82 on 03.19.09 at 9:02 pm

look under :EG6 “Seeker” Vs Suzuki Swift JWRC.

no offence to the 86, its a cool car but it has been overhyped by the initial d manga franchise.

both 86 and eg6 are cool cars and shd be respected in their own right.

The swift is a rally car, not a road race car send me the vid for the eg6 and the swift.

“shitty box like a civic to a proper car like an ‘86.”

the super 1600cc just owned dk’s 86 in this vid. and the same swift lost to a seeker eg6 in the next battle.

doesnt sound like a shitty box to me.

well swift is not boosted because turbo is not allowed in 1600

#13 MrORLY on 04.01.09 at 3:48 am

No, because no matter what you get taught at your fancy “drifting school.” you have to learn to drift by yourself, every drifter has his/her own exact way of drifting, so stop being silly, besides going from some shitty box like a civic to a proper car like an ‘86, your gonna need to learn to drive all over again.

My Mommy said I can buy one of these now and sell the Civic, she’ll pay the difference.
Then My Mommy is going to send me to drifting school in Japan this summer. R U JEALOUS??

Super1600 rally cars are all N/A, turbos aren’t allowed.

K. Tsuchiya does not normally have that GT wing installed nor use S-type competition tyres. That is his infrequent track-spec time attack setup.

The driver of the JWRC-1600 Swift is Akira Iida.

at 3:34 tsuchiya got a bad start

#18 tamakisanmafia on 04.11.09 at 9:03 pm

looks good for me, but the main reason is weight saving.

#19 kennethj1956 on 04.13.09 at 8:36 am

Why don’t he paint the hood?

#20 3star2nr on 04.16.09 at 1:24 pm

Wait you think the AE86 was stock? Did you not see the 4age 20V blacktop under the hood?

Did you not see the coilovers and also the rear end of the car?

But yeah the swift is built to rally specs so it definately has more hp than the AE86 not to mention turbo
The swift is faster, its also boosted and built to rally specs. i.e. it should be making lots more hp and torque

#21 sumopower2009 on 04.17.09 at 12:29 am

ok LMFAO….Sequential gearbox, racing breaks, rollcage, suspension, and the engine is most definitely NOT stock AE86 didn’t stand a chance

#22 sumopower2009 on 04.20.09 at 6:13 am

And another thing, that swift is no where close to stock, chassis and suspension wise, ps rollcages do amazing things lol

#23 uglysnotnosepunk on 04.23.09 at 5:26 pm

It’s a Festivus Miracle!

#24 sumopower2009 on 04.26.09 at 2:00 pm
