Can we call it monopoly, even it’s being called a standardizing or steamlining for NGV taxis in Malaysia?
Looks like Proton wants to benefit from the current situation with the global fuel price hike.
Quoted from The Star:
“At present, when taxis install NGV kits, the boot space becomes narrow. If this were incorporated into the design process, it would be more appropriate,” he said, adding that the design process would also include fuel-saving technology.
Proton chairman Datuk Mohammed Azlan Hashim said the company would continually study the requirements of the marketplace.
“One of our priorities is to produce cars that are fuel-efficient. Currently, NGV kits are retrofitted outside the factory.
“Hence we are looking at manufacturing cars fitted with NGV kits. This is something we expect to launch this year,” he said, adding that this would apply to the new Saga, Waja and Persona models.
