I am sorry for you, I have P407 2004 and had such electronic problems. I admit it is not as serious as yours, but still annoying and time consuming. It is 2.0 gasoline. I had one last night, it says Stop wheel is punctured. and the changed to low pressure. so I wish we get rid of it with the minimum loss.

Why didn’t you just demand getting it traded? You could have done that!

Mine says the hyraudlics system of steering is faulty immeadiately after start. (Had the steering box replaced because it failed for no reason at all (out of warranty))

somehow ones running on gasoline turn out to be quite nice but the glitches are with the diesel versions mostly.

The cup holder in the center console broke apart, and they ask me 250$ to replace it as it came as a whole with the console….

It is obvious that you don’t own a diesel 407…

peugeot is living up to its standard: ****!

Oh I didn’t know that. You hear that quite a lot nowadays, I think it has something to do with the more complicated electronics/overall design of modern cars and the time-pressure to finish concepts.

So I think you are right, they forgot to test it thoroughly. But on the other hand; it’s French so you can’t expect much of it haha*.

*Please note that I love France and Peugeot, I just like to confirm stereotypes :-)

2.0 liter diesels (especially ones sold in the debut year) have lots of problems. It’s like they let it out uncompleted =)

I’m “begining” to think that I’m in deep-shit too. Noticing few problems here and there. Faulty power shutters, Whipers goign crazy on ignition…steering problems and annoying rattles from the back of the car..its 2005 v6 sv.

We have now a 407sw 2nd one real nice it has 211hp. no real problems did occur. We used to have another 407sw the 2liter, only problems with the panorama roof. We had also a 406 break, and we have had never problems with that. Peugeot makes nice and good cars. Dono whats wrong with this one, maybe you bought a stolen car, a lot of stolen cars are sold in Eastern europe or where ever you come from.

#21 dechileen on 03.25.09 at 11:57 am

What version do you have, it’s a diesel I presume, the XS version?

I also drive a 407 since 2006 (gas converted to LPG) and it never gave me any problems (knock on wood). So I guess you’re just unlucky.

I think the car handles very good, looks nice and apart from the clumsey gearbox it’s a fine car.

This happened to more than one Peugeot driver. As we use Peugeots as company cars I can tell you.

Their electronics is crap !
