Sounds difficult to do.

I think I want to hho boost a carb'd vehicle. sounds like it would be way easier.

even on a carb vehicle, you still need to retard the timing. The type of fuel system does not matter.Simply when the spark plug fires up,gasoline takes longer to ignite then hydrogen so the spark plug actually fires before the cylinder reaches the top of the stroke (Top Dead Center) so technically the fuel is already burning while the piston is still moving up.Now since hydrogen burns faster, you need to slow the spark plug a bit otherwise you get combustion while the piston is still on the way UP

Yea, but to retard the timings on a carb'd vehicle you just open the head and move the cam ahead or behind a degree or two?

well thats retarding the intake and exhaust ports and you gotta have special gears that allow you do that, but what i'm talking about is when the plug fires, not when the valves open. It's pretty much all done by computer besides some very old vehicles that used mechanical sprockets that shifted depending on engine speed. You gotta use a computer chip that can allow you to trick the computer from the factory on the car (ECU) so it sends the signal later or at least so you can modify the signal.

Sounds expensive...

I thought all these guys were doing was changing the o2 sensor somewhat and voila. If you have to change all your ECU timings and **** this is gonna be a bit expensive and not very price effective for the average driver :(

To properly make it run,you will need more than to tap into the O2 and lean it out. I mean would you rather burn a hole in your cylinder or would you rather make it work right even if it costs a bit more? On some cars they have knock sensors which retard the timing automatically when they hear premature detonation however this is not the cure as it takes a while for it to react. There was a video of some guy running it on i think a corolla and you could really tell it was pinging bad.

So are you talking like a programmable chip? Like a Hondata?

no just a piggy back to retard the timing a bit.
