Yup.. I’ve got a 2000 Elantra, rear left window regulator went out in 2006. Thankfully it’s been the only one so far, but it’s the exact same thing – window won’t stay up. I keep it rigged up by sticking several pieces of paper down between the door and the window, but I have to re-do it every week or so to keep it up. Can’t count the number of times my interior’s been rained on, since it falls at random intervals. What were you saying about Hyundai giving $2k?

I have a 2000 Hyundai Elantra that was bought for me recently. It’s a used car and the left rear window is stuck shut. A few days ago I went out to see that the window had slid down and had to manually force it back up. It’s shut, for now. Help?

My cousin owns a 2006 Elantra Sedan with about 41000 miles. He has replaced 16 of these regulators, twice on the driver, 5 on the rear driver, 3 on the front passenger, and 6 on the rear passenger.

Well, Hyundai hasn’t totally fixed the problem. I’m now hearing complaints on the windows in models as late as 2006. Remember, Hyundai & Kia are the same car company, so beware.

The $2,000.00 is the cash back program that Hyundai was offering at the time the video was shot. I haven’t seen that commercial for a while so I’m guessing it’s not longer offered. What I said was, if you buy a new Hyundai, take theat 2 grand and bank it for future window regulator replacements.

It will continue to fall. You’ve got two choices. Spend a hundred bucks & fix it yourself. (The dealer will nail you for the fix at the tune of $400.00 for the repair). Or is ya wanna get really cheap on just keeping it up, you can always silicone it shut, but keep in mind… that the window will be permanently shut forever upon doing that.

And I thought my Hundai was bad on these regulators. WOW !!! And it’s a fairly new car, only 2 years old. My first one died after 1 year of owning the car. Unless he has high miles, it should be covered under the Hyundai warranty, but it’s still a pain the *** to have to continually go hang out at the dealership for the repair for hours on end. Tell your cousin to spread the word about Hyundai’s “don’t give a crap” attitude on this ongoing problem. We all need to get the word out. I’m doing it.

Wow. I’m sorry to see that you’ve had such a problem with your car and Hyundai. I have a 2004 Elantra and haven’t had a single problem with it. I hope it stays that way. Good luck and keep us updated.
